Westward Ho / Colorado Springs / Day 3

Our last day in the Springs, and yet another old (young) friend to visit!  Stacey Dupre Lenters was one of our "kids" back in our Valley View, PA days.  Just a year older than Mikkel, she was an integral part of our youth ministry ...and memorized Scripture like a wild woman on our quiz team!  We caught up on her life with offshore -rigging husband and SIX kids!  So great to hear how God has been speaking so clearly to her in many areas of her life.  Loved these 2 hours with them!

We spent the afternoon at Manitou Cliff Dwellings--these close reproductions document the cave dwellers from 1100 - 1300 AD.  Quite interesting.  Through the years, various people groups inhabited these structures, and supposedly the Pueblo Indians were descendants who lived here in the 1800's.

Although we did not have extremely high expectations, we wanted to "see" THE INCLINE --2500 steps leading straight up, where serious hikers head to the Pikes Peak trail.  As Bill and I surveyed the amazing upward slope, we determined we could get to the first leveled area---and we did!  With his knee replacement still not perfect, and my issues with light-headedness -added to the high altitude --we were pretty proud of ourselves for climbing 405!!  Many stops to drink water and gulp air!!  It was a great way to end our Colorado adventures!
