Martha's Vineyard~~Spontaneous Sidetrip

Stumbled on this old Tabernacle in Oak Bluff, reminded us of Gull Lake Ministries

Martha’s Vineyard was a spontaneous decision on Monday night!  We crossed over on the large ferry with our bikes Tuesday morning and were able to see 3 of the 7 towns on the island, about a 15 mile trip—with 5 miles of fighting the winds across Nantucket Sound.  We were kind of proud of us!!  Cute shops, beautiful bays, typical weathered wooden shingled homes.  I included the photo of one of many homes that was updated in the front but left unpainted on the sides and back.  The story goes that this is where the term “keeping up with the Jone’s” came from—the front of the house was to be kept up for appearances, but the rest could be left.  (I think there is a good devotional in there—ie, man sees the outward, but God sees the inward!!).  Are you noticing our absolutely INCREDIBLE weather??  The only rainy day was Sunday, when we were traveling in the van all day!!  Blessings.

Remember when we got to the UP this way?

The summer flowers are a delight, do they love the salty air??
Edgarton, one of the old "Captain's homes" along the bay.
We seem to love these sailboats in the hundreds of bays!
High winds while biking along the Sound-whitecaps & crazy hair!
Another God-kissed sunset, this time off the ferry as we docked!
