Washington DC~ a Lighter Afternoon

Much needed relief after the heaviness of those stories – we climbed aboard the Circulator (what a great addition to this city!) and toured Memorial Mall.  I had never even known about the FDR Memorial –it was great; and of course, so fitting to observe the Martin Luther King statue after reviewing the history of African Americans.  I am thinking and wondering about my 2 grandsons, and how they will feel as they learn of the atrocities done to their ancestors.
Poignant -- I thought of my folks listening to FDR's Fireside Chats.
Great Quote from Roosevelt

Ended up with a great dinner at a historic tavern, Old Ebbitt Grill; then an enlightening stay with a multiracial Airbnb family.  A Russian immigrant, a French-speaking West African immigrant—the story of their 7 year process to receive American citizenship. Amazing & Inspirational.
