A journey back in time as we visited "old" friends! First stop at Galloway, NJ; home of Beacon EFC. "Big Al" Syvertsen has been at this Ev Free Church for 35 years--faithfulness and untiring commitment through changes and seasons. We met Al back in our Allentown days as he participated in our networking of youth: quiz teams, sports weekends, and "Round Up". It was so fun catching
up with he and Evelyn.
Since we were so close to the shore--off we headed to Ocean City, filled with memories of short stays there over 25 years ago. We treated ourselves to Johnson's carmel corn, and talked about how we stayed in a cottage with the Haags one trip. We saw the rocks where Karen taught our kids how to catch starfish. BEAUTIFUL DAY!
And YES, I twisted Bill's arm to see this musical, and it was so funny! "He liked it, he really liked it!"
We ended our New Jersey journey in a small community similar to Orangeville or Martin, where our friends Joe & Sharon Schneider have served in a country church for 6 years (Elmer, NJ). So great to listen to Bill and Joe reminisce about their Moody days and ministry stories. Thanks, Joe for serving as Best Man in our wedding! And thanks also for caring about preaching God's Word and tending sheep, because you were called to it---not for fame or prestige, or climbing a ladder to a bigger place. God is delighted with faithfulness. And... we not only missed a photo op with the Schneiders, but we also missed the NJ Welcome sign. Sigh....
